Aspen Santa Fe Ballet presents an evening of some of their audience members’ favorite dances on February 23 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.
On the program is the jazz-inspired piece “Tuplet” by Swedish ballet dancer and choreographer Alexander Ekman. In this fast-moving, pulsating work for six dancers, Ekman asks the question ‘what is rhythm.’
Also on the program is Fernando Melo’s work “Dream Play.” In this piece, performers are on the floor. Their movements are filmed and projected onto a screen in real time. Melo describes the dance as “tricking the eyes.”
The final work performed is Jorma Elo’s “First Flash.” It’s a highly physical piece with squats, hops and sweeping lifts.
