The Malpaso Dance Company is making a splash in its Cuban home. It was founded in 2012 by artistic director Osnel Delgado. During the past six years, the company has been establishing a reputation far beyond its Cuban borders.
Malpaso’s mission is to feature works by Cuban choreographers as well as up-and-coming choreographers from around the world.
The company offers a diverse program at the Lensic Performing Arts Center on April 2. It includes works by Delgado, who danced with Danza Contemporanea de Cuba from 2003 to 2011 before founding Malpaso, Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin and Canadian choreographer Aszure Barton.
The company tours with 11 dancers and is led by Delgado, executive director Fernando Sáez and dancer and co-founder Daileidys Carrazana.
