Celebrating Contemporary Native Issues Through Movement Dancing Earth presents “SEEDS: RE GENERATION”

Dancing Earth’s production “SEEDS: RE GENERATION” is a work that’s been developing for many years. It has emerged from the interactions that the company’s dancers have had with Native American elders, farmers, seed savers and members of food and water justice groups. At its heart is the theme of resilient adaptability.

Wise Fool New Mexico hosts “SEEDS: RE GENERATION” on April 20. After presenting it in Santa Fe, Dancing Earth heads to Washington, D.C. to perform the work at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. [Read More…]

The Malpaso Dance Company is making a splash in its Cuban home. It was founded in 2012 by artistic director Osnel Delgado. During the past six years, the company has been establishing a reputation far beyond its Cuban borders.

Variety is the Spice of Dance The contemporary dance company BODYTRAFFIC showcases recent works

Creating dance programs that are both entertaining and thought-provoking is the goal of BODYTRAFFIC. This contemporary dance company based in Los Angeles was founded by Lillian Rose Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett in 2007.

During BODYTRAFFIC’s appearance on February 5 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center as guests of Performance Santa Fe, the company showcases four works in its repertoire. It also previews a new piece choreographed by one of the company’s former dancers, James Greggs, along with break dancer RubberLegz.

“We gear our programs to have a wide appeal,” explains Barbeito, who grew up in Santa Fe and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1994.  [Read More…]
